How Oregon taxes an RV purchase
Oregon has no general sales tax, but it does have a vehicle privilege tax: 0.5% of the retail price, charged to dealers on vehicles never before registered in Oregon, and usually passed on to the buyer. It covers taxable motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds or less and 7,500 miles or fewer, and the definition explicitly includes motor homes and campers. Trailers count only if they must be registered in Oregon.
The calculator starts at 0.5%. For a used RV bought from a private seller, set it to 0.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use a Oregon lender?
No. Nationwide lenders and credit unions with open membership lend in every state; Alliant Credit Union, for example, offers RV loans up to 20 years. Compare at least one local and one national offer.
Which tax rate applies if I buy outside Oregon?
Usually the rate where you register the RV. Buying in another state rarely avoids your home state's tax.
