Why your rate may be higher than the advertised one
Term
Longer terms cost more. Navy Federal Credit Union advertises 7.45% up to 60 months but 9.8% for 61 to 180 months. Alliant Credit Union goes from 7.14% at 120 months to 8.39% at 240.
Age of the RV
NASA Federal Credit Union adds 1 percentage point for model years 2016–2021 and 2 points for 2015 and older.
Credit score
Most lenders want a score of at least 670, according to Bankrate, and the best rates go to the highest scores. See RV loan rates by credit score.
Autopay and membership
Advertised rates often include discounts. Alliant Credit Union's rates include an autopay discount and are 0.40% higher without it.
How to get a better RV loan rate
- Check your credit reports and fix errors before applying.
- Get quotes from a credit union, your bank and the dealer, within about two weeks.
- Put down more money: it lowers the amount at risk for the lender.
- Choose the shortest term whose payment you can comfortably afford.
- Ask each lender which discounts the quoted rate already includes.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good RV loan rate right now?
For excellent credit, published rates currently start between 6.04% and 7.45% for short terms, and roughly 7% to 9% for 10- to 20-year terms. An offer in that range is competitive for a newer RV.
Are RV loan rates higher than car loan rates?
Usually a little, especially on long terms, because RVs are discretionary purchases that lose value quickly. Short-term RV loans can be priced close to auto loans.
How often do you update these rates?
We recheck every lender in the table at least once a month and show the date of the last check at the top of the page.
